How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost in 2026?
One-time or monthly, template or custom: what actually drives website pricing, with real published prices per provider — each sourced below — and the questions that separate a fair quote from a trap.
What decides the price
Every quote bundles the same components: page count, custom design vs template, copy and media, integrations, and after-launch support. A one-page site and a ten-page site are different products; comparing headline prices without comparing scope is the most common buying mistake.
One page, multi-page, or custom
One page: services, contacts and call buttons on a single scrolling page. Fits freelancers, local trades and new businesses that need credibility fast.
Multi-page (around 5 pages): room for services in detail, a work gallery, a FAQ section and statistics. Fits established small businesses.
Custom: stores, bookings, integrations — quoted case by case. Any provider should be able to explain which tier you need and why. These are category descriptions, not promises about any specific provider.
What providers actually publish
All figures below were read directly from each provider's public page in October 2026. Third-party prices vary by market and are not directly comparable across countries and scopes — use them as observed anchors, not exchange-rate conversions.
BuiltForSmallBiz (US) — $499 / $899 / $1,399 one-time for redesign, new site up to 10 pages, and premium up to 15 pages. Source: builtforsmallbiz.com.
RapidWebLaunch (US) — $95/month, $0 to build, cancel anytime; design, hosting, updates and support bundled. Source: rapidweblaunch.com/services/website-design.
Tellurium (UK) — £1,450 / £2,450 / £4,450 / £7,950+ fixed, with care plans from £65/mo; their guide also cites a GoodFirms survey placing agency projects between $1,000 and $15,000. Source: tellurium.tech (July 2026).
StartDesigns — from $499, stating a small-business range of $500–$5,000 for custom builds. Source: startdesigns.com.
Polaris AI Studio — €95 Essential (single page) / €197 Complete (up to 5 pages), fixed one-time prices; custom work quoted separately. Source: our own packages on this site.
Note the structural difference one-time vs subscription illustrates: $95/month totals $3,420 over three years (arithmetic on RapidWebLaunch's published price) — neither model is "cheaper" in abstract; it depends on horizon and what's bundled.
DIY vs builder vs studio
DIY builders charge monthly subscriptions — typically tens of dollars or euros per month depending on the plan — plus your own time, and scope and portability vary by platform: ask before assuming. Freelancers and studios quote per scope, as the verified table above shows. The honest comparison is always scope × horizon × ownership of domain and files — ask all three explicitly.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
Is the quote fixed, and what exactly is included? Who registers and owns the domain? What recurs yearly? How many revision rounds? What do changes cost after launch? Can I see a live example, not screenshots?
Our public answer
Essential single-page site €95; Complete site up to 5 pages with gallery, FAQ and statistics €197 — fixed before we start, no mandatory monthly fees, custom work quoted separately. A single page is not a smaller version of a custom project; it is a different product for a different need. See exactly what each includes: Professional websites from €95.
FAQ
One-time or monthly — which is better?
Depends on horizon and bundle. Compare three-year totals and what upkeep each includes.
Is a cheap website a bad website?
No — price reflects scope. Match the tier to the job.
What about hidden costs?
Domain (typically €10–20/year), content production and future changes are the usual extras — ask each provider to itemise them.
